It's not the new normal, it's a new mindset
There’s a glitch in the matrix. The country’s been quarantined for the past few months. Who would’ve thought 5 months into 2020 we would be here?
I skipped April’s blogpost because like most, a much needed break from this current reality was warranted.
What I know about change is, it gets worse before it gets better.
Words are spells, hence why it’s called “spelling.” What you speak about you bring about. As within, so without. Some of us are referring to the precautionary measures against COVID (i.e., wearing face masks and gloves) as the “new normal” or “new reality.” Well, I reject that term, as we all should. What we knew as normal — the hustle and bustle of working a 9-5, the long commutes, not having enough time to revisit hobbies, spend with loved ones, work on personal goals, relax — may not have been normal after all.
Perhaps this time to do nothing, to move about less, is creating a new mindset. To really take time to smell the roses, to pause every now and again. To breathe.
Mother Earth needed a break. She needed to breathe. She needed to heal. It’s evident in the animal sightings in many parts of the globe, out roaming the earth without the interruption of humans. Waters are clearer, pollution is declining.
“When we pay attention to nature’s music, we find that everything on Earth contributes to its harmony.” Hazrat Inayat Khan.
The earth needs to heal from us. We’re the virus. We’re the plague. Perhaps Mother Earth put us all in time out to heal ourselves and our environment, to reflect on what we once thought was of importance in our lives, to reevaluate our priorities.
Be aware but don’t feed the fears.
These are uncertain times for sure. These are even scary times, but it’s not the new reality or the new normal. These are times of shifting, of being grateful for what we have, who we have in our lives, and those fighting for us. This reality is creating a new mindset.
Stay safe. Be well.
